Missouri Bar Leadership Academy
The Leadership Academy of The Missouri Bar was created to recruit and target young or recently admitted attorneys who are already outstanding leaders of their communities for participation in the program and a commitment to work for the Bar in the future. The Academy seeks diversity in gender, race, area of practice, and region of practice, in order to broaden and strengthen the leadership of The Missouri Bar. Candidates are nominated by attorneys, their firms or coworkers, and local bar associations.
Each class is limited to twelve or fewer members to ensure the goals of the Academy are met. The participants complete leadership training at the Missouri Bar Center in Jefferson City, attend meetings of The Missouri Bar Committees and Board of Governors, meet leaders of The Missouri Bar, and attend two full-day workshops regarding leadership styles. The Academy also develops a class community service project, which each member facilities in his or her community. At the end of the year, the Academy members commit to two additional years of service in The Missouri Bar.
